From Proof of Concept to Market Fit: Custom Software Development for a Health and Fitness Platform
Kuula is a health and fitness company founded in 2019. Kuula’s platform offers teachers a way to monetize their skills by creating, scheduling, and charging for lessons. The platform also allows teachers to upload video content and create various types of memberships for their students.
The company's mission was to create an inclusive and accessible platform that empowers teachers to grow their business and help students achieve their fitness goals.
Kuula was looking for a trusted software development partner, to help them bring the platform to reality.
Having previous experience with HackSoft, Kuula’s CTO reached out to us and we started building right away.
The Challenge
One of the initial challenges was to a working proof of concept with the aim of securing pre-seed investment.
We had to create a platform that supports basic authentication, schedule creation & live streaming (HLS-based and WebRTC-based).
Things had to be done in quick iterations, so user feedback could be received on time.
After securing pre-seed investment, we worked with Kuula on an ongoing basis to create features to help them grow and expand their user base.
The Solution
The team worked for a few months to build the proof of concept and understand the product. We leveraged the power of React, Firebase, and Mux, in order to ship the first proof of concept fast.
After building the initial proof of concept and securing the investment, we quickly transformed the solution into a stable backend, using Django.
For the front-end, we expanded the React solution to Next.js, leveraging the full power of a front-end framework with back-end capabilities.
To tackle the challenges, we collaborated closely with their team to develop a comprehensive platform that encompassed all essential functionalities.
Through iterative sprints and continuous feedback, we worked to create features that enabled them to scale and achieve market fit.

Results and Feedback
Kuula successfully launched their initial version, which was followed by many successful launches of additional products and features.
