This is The Faces of HackSoft - our blog series where we shine a spotlight on the amazing people in our team.

Meet Ivan - one of our QAs! 🫑 As a QA engineer, Ivan makes sure every feature we ship works seamlessly - from writing test cases and catching bugs, to ensuring our processes run smoothly. Outside of work, he’s a climber, photographer, and avid reader, always balancing curiosity with challenge. βœ…

In this edition of The Faces of HackSoft, Ivan shares his journey into IT, the tools he can’t live without, and what it’s like to be part of the HackSoft team. πŸš€

Let's dive into it!

Can you tell us more about yourself?

Hi, I'm Ivan! I have been working as a QA engineer at HackSoft for almost a year now. πŸ‘‹

Before moving into IT, I switched through a few different jobs, but I always had the idea in the back of my mind that I wanted to get into tech. πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»

I studied programming at Telerik Academy, but after finishing, I wasn't quite sure which path in the IT field to take, so I kept exploring different directions.

I feel very lucky that HackSoft gave me a chance as a QA, because I can't describe how much I enjoy my job, my coworkers, and the work environment here. πŸ€—

What is your daily work like? Any specific tools or technologies you're using?

My daily work is focused on manual testing, writing test cases in Qase, reporting bugs in Trello, and documenting flows. πŸ”πŸ›

On the backend, I also write API tests with Python and pytest, but my main focus remains on QA processes. βœ…

What are your favorite tools/apps and why?

I enjoy tools that bring structure and clarity to processes. πŸ“

Qase is one of my go-tos for organizing test cases, and Obsidian for note-taking - it helps me connect ideas like a personal knowledge graph.

I'd also add Whimsical, because it makes visualizing and keeping track of technical documentation effortless.

What's the one favorite tool you use daily?

Obsidian. It's like my second brain - I use it to structure notes, ideas, and workflows. βœ…

Why did you decide to join HackSoft?

Because of the culture, atmosphere, and people. 🧑

I was looking for a place where knowledge sharing, freedom, and mutual respect are part of everyday life - and HackSoft is exactly that.

I had my eye on HackSoft for quite some time, and when I saw the open QA position, I didn't hesitate to apply. 🀭

What do you like most at HackSoft?

The openness. Everyone is ready to help, share knowledge, and create space for growth.

It truly feels like a team where you can both contribute and learn every day.

Name three HackSoft values that fit your personality:

  • Freedom & Responsibility
  • Long-Term Thinking
  • Mutual Respect

What are your hobbies/interests?

I have a variety of hobbies, but my main ones are:

  • Photography – for creativity πŸ“Έ
  • Climbing – for sports and challenge πŸ§—
  • Reading – to keep my brain active πŸ“–
  • Fishing – to enjoy the outdoors 🎣

What's the motto that motivates you?

"Progress is a journey of steady steps." πŸͺœ

It reminds me that growth is about consistency and rhythm, not sprinting.
